Challenge:

The University of Massachusetts Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell campuses lacked a digital and central system for prospective students, creating confusion and friction throughout the application lifecycle. The goal was to build the university’s first-ever applicant portal that would serve multiple campuses, streamline the journey, and support long-term engagement.

Outcome/Solution:

I led the end-to-end design of a fully custom, accessible portal enabling applicants to track their status, explore financial aid, schedule tours, and access personalised content. Grounded in stakeholder workshops, user interviews, and journey mapping, the platform delivered a 36% increase in applicant satisfaction and a 33% reduction in support requests. It quickly became the standard across UMass campuses, with many students citing the UX as a key factor in their final choice.
